Abuja – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled two senior chieftains from Gombe State, Hon. Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki and Hon. Usman Aliyu Garry, citing alleged anti-party activities and gross misconduct. The disciplinary action results in the immediate loss of their party membership, along with all associated rights and privileges.

Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, announced the decision in a statement, confirming that the expulsion followed the findings of the party’s Disciplinary Committee and subsequent consideration by relevant party organs. The PDP stated that the actions of the two politicians were deemed capable of bringing the party into disrepute.

The offences attributed to Mailantarki and Garry fall under Sections 58(1)(a), (b), (h), and (j) of the party’s 2017 amended constitution, which cover misconduct and activities considered detrimental to the organization. In invoking Section 59(1)(j) of the constitution, the PDP declared that both individuals have ceased to be members and will no longer enjoy any affiliation or privileges within its structures.

The party emphasized that the disciplinary process strictly adhered to procedural requirements, including the right to fair hearing as outlined in Section 57(6) of its constitution and Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution. The PDP reaffirmed the supremacy of its internal rules, warning that a member’s status or position does not exempt them from disciplinary action.

“No member, regardless of status, is above the Party’s laws and disciplinary framework,” the PDP stated. “The Party reiterates that its Constitution remains supreme and binding on all members.”

In its concluding remarks, the PDP urged its remaining members to remain loyal, disciplined, and committed to the party’s ideals. The leadership called on members to work collectively to strengthen the party at all levels, reinforcing the message that adherence to the constitution is mandatory for all affiliates.
