Osun State’s Amotekun security corps detained five men on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, for a range of alleged crimes including theft, burglary and fraud, according to a statement released by the corps’ public relations officer.

The suspects—Adebisi Olalere (30), Isiaka Yinusa (33), Farika Azeez (30), Daniel Moses (30) and Monday Lawrence (30)—were apprehended at various locations across the state, including alleged hideouts and the scenes of the reported offences. Corps Commander Adekunle Isaac Omoyele said the arrests followed complaints lodged by residents.

“Olalere, a herbalist from Gbongan, was arrested over allegations that he conspired with armed robbers and supplied them with traditional charms intended to assist their criminal activities,” the statement read. “He was reportedly arrested alongside Yinusa, also from Gbongan, who was apprehended in connection with an alleged shop burglary in the town. Yinusa is a former convict who had previously served a prison sentence for motorcycle theft. Both men allegedly admitted involvement in the offences during preliminary investigations.”

Azeez, a resident of Modakeke, was taken into custody for the alleged theft of a gas cylinder and other items. He had a prior conviction for a similar offence and admitted to the latest incident during interrogation.

Moses and Lawrence, both from Benue State and living in Ipinrindo, Atakumosa East Local Government Area, were charged with stealing iron rods from the local government secretariat. The statement said the stolen rods, valued between N50,000 and N100,000, were sold to scrap dealers for N4,000 to N5,000. Moses admitted to participating in the theft.

Corps Commander Omoyele urged residents to provide credible and timely information to security agencies to help prevent crime and address potential security threats across Osun State. “The five suspects have been handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution,” he added.
