A tanker fire in Cross River State has killed one person and injured another, setting ablaze shops and vehicles in the area.
The blaze erupted when a tanker caught fire, spreading to nearby commercial premises and parked vehicles, according to the state fire service.
Cross River’s fire service has recorded 17 incidents between January and September, resulting in an estimated N2.5 billion in property losses and six injuries.
Cross River is a state in southeastern Nigeria, known for its coastal towns and agricultural output.
