Cameroon’s celebrated musician Bissi Mag was laid to rest on Saturday, 17 October 2026, in Bandjoun, the town in the country’s West region that is the land of his ancestors.
Known affectionately as the “Griot de l’Ouest,” Bissi Mag was widely recognised for his contributions to Cameroonian music, blending traditional rhythms with contemporary sounds.
The burial took place in Bandjoun, a cultural hub in the West region where many of the country’s historic kingdoms are based, underscoring the artist’s deep ties to his heritage.
Cameroon, a Central African nation with a rich musical tradition, has mourned the loss of Bissi Mag, whose work helped to promote the cultural identity of the western part of the country.
