Obi Mourns Uduaghan, Recalls Role in Second Niger Bridge Project

Former Nigerian Vice President, Peter Obi, has expressed his condolences over the passing of former Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan.

In a statement released on Sunday, Obi reminisced about their collaboration on advocating for the development of the much-needed Second Niger Bridge project.

  • Second Niger Bridge: A vital transportation infrastructure project aimed at connecting Nigeria's southern states, particularly Delta and Anambra, with the Central African Republic and Benin Republic.
  • Uduaghan's Role: As Governor of Delta State, Uduaghan played a significant part in championing the cause of the bridge project, working closely with Obi to secure funding and support for the initiative.

Obi stated:

"I am saddened by the passing of my dear friend and colleague, Emmanuel Uduaghan. We worked together on several projects, including the Second Niger Bridge, which remains a testament to our commitment to improving the lives of our people and strengthening Nigeria's infrastructure."

The project, which has been a longstanding aspiration for the people of Delta and Anambra states, remains a crucial undertaking that aims to boost economic growth, reduce transportation costs, and enhance trade relations with neighboring countries.

Uduaghan, who served as Governor from 2007 to 2015, is survived by his wife, children, and the people of Delta State who greatly benefited from his administration.

While the future of the Second Niger Bridge project remains uncertain following Uduaghan's passing, Obi expressed his belief in the project's importance:

"The Second Niger Bridge is a vital project that will greatly improve the lives of the people of Delta and Anambra states. I remain committed to ensuring that this project is realized, in memory of my dear friend Emmanuel Uduaghan."

The ongoing efforts to secure funding and political support for the project will continue, as Obi and others work to honor Uduaghan's legacy and fulfill the promise of the Second Niger Bridge.

The bridge project, when completed, is expected to boost economic growth, reduce transportation costs, and enhance trade relations with neighboring countries.
