Police in Imo State have identified the camp where 19 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were abducted, but the planned raid has been postponed because authorities fear the area may be mined with improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The Imo State Police Command confirmed that the camp, which houses the 19 abducted youths, has been located. The police say they are preparing to launch a rescue operation, but are exercising caution.

Chief Superintendent (CP) of the police stated that the delay is due to concerns that the area could be booby‑trapped with IEDs, which would pose a serious risk to the officers and the hostages.

NYSC members are part of a national program that sends recent graduates to serve in various parts of Nigeria. The abduction has drawn widespread attention and calls for a swift, safe resolution.

Police have not yet announced a new date for the raid, but officials are reportedly working to ensure all safety protocols are in place before proceeding.
