Nine people were killed when a business jet suffered a “cataclysmic” crash in Florida, officials said.
The aircraft, a privately‑operated jet, went down in the state earlier today, prompting a rapid response from local emergency crews and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis told reporters that, despite the severity of the crash, there appeared to be no casualties on the ground.
Authorities have opened an investigation into the cause of the accident, and investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are on site to collect evidence.
Florida, the third‑largest state in the United States by population, has a busy air traffic environment that includes both commercial and private aviation operations.
