Nigeria’s broad money supply (M3) climbed to N146.6 trillion in September 2026, a rise of N7.51 trillion from the previous month, according to a report by Punch Nigeria.

The increase follows a recent interest‑rate cut by the Central Bank of Nigeria, which has been aimed at easing borrowing costs and stimulating economic activity across the country.

Broad money, or M3, includes cash, demand deposits and other liquid assets held by households and businesses. A higher M3 figure typically signals greater liquidity in the economy.

While the central bank’s policy move is designed to support growth, analysts note that a rapid rise in money supply can also put upward pressure on prices if not matched by output.
