Niger Miners' Deaths: Gov Bago Provides Fresh Updates

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has offered new details on the unfortunate incident involving suspected miners who lost their lives while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Saturday, the governor stated that the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) had taken statements from those discharged from the hospital.

According to him, some of the miners have been discharged from the hospital and have been reunited with their families. He further mentioned that:

  • "Some are still in the hospital. We are hopeful that before the end of this week, they will also be okay because they suffered a lot of dehydration and malnutrition,"

The governor emphasized that the miners were subjected to medical tests, which confirmed that they are in good health to return to their families.

The incident involving the miners occurred in Niger State, Nigeria, where the NSCDC had arrested the miners suspected to be involved in illegal mining activities.

The governor's comments provide some closure to the families of the miners and shed light on the situation surrounding the unfortunate incident.
