Eliud Kipchoge, the 41‑year‑old Kenyan long‑distance runner, claimed victory in his first marathon in three years by winning the Melbourne Marathon on Sunday.

Kipchoge finished the 42.195‑kilometre course in a time that beat the previous race record by two seconds, setting a new benchmark for the event held around the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

After crossing the finish line, the world‑class athlete said he was “happy to run with the Gen Zs” and that he still feels “my body is still peaking,” adding that he is not finished with his career.
