Dr. Jonah Ogbaji, the Medical Director of Multicare Hospital in Makurdi, has been abducted by heavily armed men who stormed the facility while he was attending to patients. The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 pm, when the suspects entered the hospital and whisked the doctor away without identifying themselves.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers arrived at the facility in a Toyota Sienna vehicle. The men did not reveal their identities or affiliations before taking Dr. Ogbaji into custody, leaving hospital staff and family members in a state of uncertainty regarding his whereabouts and the nature of the abduction.
A daughter of the victim, who spoke to the Daily Post on condition of anonymity, stated that efforts to locate her father have so far been unsuccessful. She noted that the individuals who took him claimed to be security operatives, a statement that has not been corroborated by hospital workers who were unable to describe the men in detail.
“We have not really established whether they are kidnappers – the people that came claimed that they are security operatives. Workers were not able to describe them,” the daughter said.
When hospital staff inquired about the destination of the doctor, the men reportedly responded with the vague instruction, “just here.” This ambiguity led the family to initially suspect that Dr. Ogbaji might have been taken to a local police division for questioning or protection.
However, the family has since visited all police stations in Makurdi to verify his presence, but he has not been found at any of the facilities. The daughter emphasized that despite their extensive search, they have not been able to establish his current location or confirm the true identity of the men who abducted him.
