Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is facing mounting pressure as club legend Wayne Rooney publicly criticised the squad, describing the players as “babies.”
Since taking charge, Carrick has struggled to steady a team that has been in a slump of results, prompting growing calls for change from fans and the board alike.
Rooney, who spent 13 seasons as United’s record‑scoring striker, took aim at the players’ perceived lack of maturity, saying they were “babies” and needed to step up on the pitch.
The criticism comes at a time when United is looking to regain form in the Premier League, a competition that has seen the club’s fortunes rise and fall over recent years.
It remains unclear how the club’s hierarchy will respond to Rooney’s remarks or whether they will influence Carrick’s future at Old Trafford.
