Manchester City’s unbeaten run in the Premier League was halted on Saturday when Aston Villa secured a 2‑1 victory at Villa Park, with striker Nicolas Jackson scoring both goals for the home side.
The result marked City’s first defeat of the campaign after a flawless start that saw them win each of their opening league fixtures.
Jackson’s first goal gave Villa the lead, and his second, coming later in the match, sealed the win despite a late consolation strike from City.
City’s loss ends their perfect start but leaves them still in contention near the top of the table, while Villa’s triumph provides a boost in their own league position.
Both clubs will look to build on the outcome as the season progresses, with City aiming to rebound quickly and Villa hoping to maintain momentum from the upset.
