Man Stabs Neighbour to Death Over Alleged Roasted Meat Dispute in Adamawa
A 28-year-old man, Ibrahim Augustine, has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his 21-year-old neighbour, Haggai Markus, to death over a disagreement regarding roasted meat in Mubi North Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at around 8 pm at Mararaban Vimtim when the deceased reportedly had a disagreement with Augustine over roasted meat taken from a butcher's table.
Police operatives attached to the Mubi North Division visited the scene after receiving the report and found Markus lying dead in a pool of blood. It was confirmed that the victim had succumbed to his injuries by a medical doctor at the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi.
A sharp knife was recovered as an exhibit from the scene of the crime.
The case and the suspect will be forwarded to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, after which he will be prosecuted.
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CSP Kabiru Hassan, condoled the deceased's family and assured the public that justice will be served.
The police spokesperson advised residents to settle their disputes peacefully and report them to the police instead of resorting to violence.
