The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) will host a two‑day energy‑efficiency summit in Lagos on 3–4 November, aiming to curb soaring energy costs, boost industrial competitiveness and attract investment in alternative power solutions.

The event, organised by MAN’s power arm Manufacturers Power Development Company Ltd (MPDCL) in partnership with the German Development Agency (GIZ) and the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP), will take place at the Legend Hotel Lagos Airport in Ikeja.

With the theme “Innovative Energy for Cost‑Effective Smart Manufacturing with Structured Financing,” the summit will focus on industrial energy security, efficiency and cost reduction, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, regulators, technology providers and financial institutions.

MAN President Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye warned that high electricity tariffs, unreliable grid supply, fuel price volatility and dependence on expensive self‑generation are major constraints that undermine manufacturers’ competitiveness, fuel inflation, limit job creation and hinder Nigeria’s ability to exploit opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

“To build a resilient, self‑sustaining economy, we must address these challenges through a multi‑faced approach by expanding our energy infrastructure, accelerating energy efficiency adoption, diversifying industrial energy sources, and forging deep public‑private capital partnerships,” Okoye said.

MAN Director‑General Segun Ajayi‑Kadir noted that previous summits have helped members engage solution providers and increased the adoption of off‑grid energy solutions. He added that attracting investment remains a priority, citing inadequate investment in the power sector and an unfavourable business environment as key constraints on capital inflows, particularly from foreign investors.

By convening a broad range of stakeholders, the summit seeks to develop practical solutions to Nigeria’s industrial energy challenges and support the country’s industrial growth agenda.
