PolitiFact, a fact‑checking partner of PBS NewsHour, is reviewing claims in multiple competitive 2026 midterm races across the United States on Election Day, scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
The 2026 midterm elections will determine the composition of the entire U.S. House of Representatives, roughly one‑third of the Senate, and a slate of state and local offices, making accurate information especially critical for voters.
Because a number of congressional contests are expected to be closely fought, PolitiFact is focusing its resources on verifying statements made by candidates, campaign groups and political commentators in those races.
PolitiFact, known for its systematic rating of political claims, collaborates with PBS NewsHour to provide real‑time fact‑checks, helping the public separate verified information from misinformation during the election cycle.
The organization’s effort underscores the broader need for reliable data as Americans head to the polls, aiming to ensure that voters can make informed decisions based on factual reporting.
