Jez Litten and Morgan Knowles have been named in England’s starting line‑up for their must‑win Rugby League World Cup clash with Papua New Guinea, after Brad O'Neill was forced to drop out of the squad.
The decision comes as England look to secure a victory that will keep their hopes of progressing in the tournament alive. Litten and Knowles will replace O'Neill, who was unavailable for the match.
Both players were selected to fill the void left by O'Neill’s withdrawal, although the reasons for his absence were not disclosed by the coaching staff.
England’s coach will be hoping that the fresh line‑up can deliver the performance required to overcome the PNG side in what is described as a “must‑win” fixture.
The game will be a key test for England as they aim to advance to the next stage of the World Cup.
