Kogi Group Warns Against Involving EFCC in Politics

A group calling itself the Kogi Central Progressive Elites has cautioned the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement against involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in political matters.

The group, in a statement, expressed concern over the recent threat by the movement to mobilize against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly.

The group's President, Abdullahi Omeiza, stated that political actors should refrain from using anti-corruption agencies like EFCC for political purposes.

Omeiza said:

“Leave EFCC out of politics.”

He added:

“The mere distribution of financial assistance to constituents does not, in itself, establish an offence of vote-buying.”

The group also urged Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to focus on her legislative duties and not be distracted by the controversy surrounding the EFCC's involvement in the matter.

The Kogi Central Progressive Elites stated that:

“The decision to vote for a senator should be based on their performance, not on political pressure or intimidation.”

The group maintained that:

“The electorate have the right to choose their representatives based on their track records, not on sensational political narratives.”

The Kogi Central Progressive Elites emphasized that:

“It is the people of Kogi Central who ultimately decide who represents them, not media hype or political intimidation.”

The group concluded by stating:

“Leave EFCC out of politics.”

The Kogi Central Progressive Elites declared:

“The EFCC must not be used as a political tool,”

The group maintained:

“The EFCC should not be dragged into the political arena for partisan gain.”
