Lagos State is aiming to host between 50 and 100 small food‑processing plants around a new food systems and logistics hub, a move announced by Governor Babajide Sanwo‑Olu at an Executive Business Breakfast hosted by the Nigerian‑British Chamber of Commerce.

The governor said the hub will not only store and distribute food but also provide a platform for value addition. “The second part of that logistics hub is that it’s also going to feed about 50 to 100 small food processing plants,” Sanwo‑Olu explained, noting that the state has earmarked roughly 1,000 hectares for the development of these facilities.

Food from across Nigeria will be brought to the hub, where it will be stored in cold and dry facilities, silos and a large trailer park designed to support the movement of commodities. The processing plants are expected to use the stored produce to create a range of value‑added products within the state.

Sanwo‑Olu described the facility as “one of the largest food systems and logistics hubs in Sub‑Saharan Africa” and said it is almost completed. The integrated system is part of the state’s master plan to strengthen its food supply chain and promote local processing.
