Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old suspected cultist identified as Muyideen Olatunbosun, recovering a rubber-made pistol, an axe, criminal charms, and illicit drugs during an intelligence-led operation in Ikorodu.
According to a statement released by the command, operatives detained Olatunbosun while conducting patrols in the Idi-Iroko, Ogolonto, and Agric areas of Ikorodu. The arrest was executed following specific intelligence received during the ongoing anti-crime patrol.
A subsequent search of the suspect yielded one rubber-made pistol, one axe, items described as criminal charms, and a quantity of an illicit drug popularly known as “Ice.” The police stated that the operation is part of its sustained efforts to combat cultism and other criminal activities across the state.
“The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting with the ongoing investigation,” the statement read. “Efforts are also ongoing to apprehend other members of his alleged cult group.”
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their vigilance and prompt response to credible information. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations against cultism and various forms of criminality within Lagos State.
CP Fatai further urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police through the command’s emergency lines to aid in the fight against crime.
