Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has expressed satisfaction with the performance of young winger Yan Diomande, but has also warned the player that he must improve his finishing to unlock his full potential.
Mourinho, who took charge of the Spanish giants last season, praised Diomande for his work ethic and contributions on the pitch. The Portuguese coach said he is happy with the winger’s progress, but highlighted that the next step for the player is to become more clinical in front of goal.
Diomande, who has been part of Real Madrid’s squad since joining the club in 2023, has been seen as a promising talent in La Liga. Mourinho’s comments come as the club continues to develop its young players while competing for domestic and European honours.
Improving finishing is a common focus for coaches looking to maximise a winger’s impact in modern football. Mourinho’s remarks underline the club’s commitment to refining the technical skills of its emerging talents.
While the manager remains optimistic about Diomande’s future, he has made clear that the winger’s development will hinge on his ability to convert chances into goals.
