The Kwara State Government has launched an electronic warehouse management system aimed at strengthening the monitoring and availability of family‑planning commodities across the state.

According to the announcement, the new digital platform will track stock levels, distribution routes and usage patterns of contraceptives, allowing health officials to respond more quickly to shortages and ensure that supplies reach clinics and pharmacies in a timely manner.

State officials said the system is part of a broader effort to improve reproductive health services and to reduce the incidence of stock‑outs that have historically hampered family‑planning programmes in Nigeria.

Kwara, located in the north‑central region of Nigeria, is one of 36 states that rely on federal and state health initiatives to expand access to modern contraceptives. Enhancing supply‑chain transparency is seen as a critical step toward meeting national targets for contraceptive prevalence.

The electronic warehouse management system is expected to be rolled out to all health facilities in the state over the coming months, with training provided to staff responsible for inventory control and distribution.
