Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, denied accusations that he had betrayed the president’s confidence, saying he had never been involved in any wrongdoing linked to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). He made the remarks on Saturday at his 2026 Mega Empowerment Programme, held at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
Gbajabiamila said the House of Representatives and other investigations had cleared him of any misconduct. “The investigative reports are now available to the public and due process has been followed, despite pressure to condemn me before the investigations were complete,” he told the crowd.
“Mr. President knows his Chief of Staff very well. Having worked closely with me for many years, he was therefore supremely confident that I was not in any way involved in those nefarious things,” Gbajabiamila said.
He stressed that no amount of money, blackmail or lies would distract him from his duties. “I will continue to carry out the work the President has given me to do,” he added. The former Speaker also reaffirmed his loyalty to Tinubu, noting that “in politics, loyalty is the currency we spend the most.”
The empowerment programme, aimed at supporting about 5,000 residents of Surulere, distributed cash, vehicles, electric tricycles, buses, security patrol vehicles and an ambulance. Lagos State Deputy Governor and APC governorship candidate Obafemi Hamzat praised Gbajabiamila’s support for his constituents and urged backing for Tinubu’s re‑election, citing the president’s long‑standing contribution to the party.
