Israeli settlers seized eight Palestinian homes in the city of Jericho in the occupied West Bank, displacing dozens of families, according to a United Nations report.
The UN said the settlers reportedly used live ammunition and physically beat Palestinians as they entered the neighbourhood, forcing families to flee for their safety.
UN officials condemned the actions, stating that the use of live fire and violence against civilians violates international humanitarian law and endangers the civilian population.
Jericho, one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, lies in the Palestinian‑administered part of the West Bank where settlement activity has frequently sparked tension between Israeli settlers and Palestinian residents.
The seizure left dozens of residents without homes, prompting them to seek temporary shelter elsewhere while authorities assess the situation and consider possible responses.
