Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji announced that industrialisation and the expansion of small businesses will be the primary focus of his administration during its second term.
Having spent his first term concentrating on infrastructure projects, the governor said the government will now shift its attention to building manufacturing capacity and providing support to local entrepreneurs.
Oyebanji explained that the new agenda is intended to diversify Ekiti’s economy, generate employment opportunities and lessen the state’s dependence on external markets.
He highlighted that small‑business owners form the backbone of the state’s economy and that targeted policies, credit facilities and skills‑training programmes will be introduced to help them grow.
Ekiti State, located in southwestern Nigeria and home to roughly 3.5 million people, has previously invested heavily in roads, power and water supply, laying the groundwork for this next phase of economic development.
