A Houston prosecutor has stated that an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer appeared to intentionally strike a man with a vehicle in the Texas city, according to reports from PBS NewsHour.
This incident has triggered fresh criticism regarding immigration enforcement practices in Houston. The local legal authorities are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged vehicular assault.
The controversy comes amid heightened scrutiny of federal operations in the region. Local prosecutors are simultaneously investigating a separate incident that occurred in July, in which a federal immigration officer was involved in a fatal shooting.
The dual investigations have intensified public debate over the conduct of federal agents and the accountability mechanisms in place for immigration enforcement activities within the city.
