The village head of Aujarawar Alkali community in Kano State, Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, was abducted by gunmen on the night of Thursday, 17 September 2026.
Witnesses told journalists that the attackers arrived with sophisticated weapons and seized Ahmad, taking him to an unknown destination. The abduction was confirmed by a statement released on Friday by Mahi Isma’il, spokesperson to the Zannan Kano and District Head of Jogana town.
“We appeal to security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and reinforce security in rural communities in the state,” said Mahi Isma’il. “We also urge residents to stay calm, remain vigilant and pray for his safe return.”
As of the time of this report, the Kano State Police Command has not issued a statement regarding the incident.
The abduction has raised concerns about security in rural areas of Kano State, where communities are increasingly vulnerable to armed attacks.
