Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has publicly responded to his name being omitted from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) list of candidates for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election. Pantami had been declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate after a fresh primary election held on 29 September 2026, a primary ordered by the Federal High Court.

A statement issued on Pantami’s behalf by Professor Suleiman Mohammed Gombe on Saturday urged supporters to remain calm, hopeful and steadfast despite the omission. The statement emphasized that the exclusion is “a temporary challenge and a normal part of the electoral process, not a final determination, in sha Allah.”

“We wish to assure all our supporters to remain calm, steadfast and hopeful. This is a temporary challenge and a normal part of the electoral process, not a final determination, in sha Allah.”

The communiqué acknowledged the concerns raised among PDP supporters and the “Pantamiyya Movement” across Gombe State and beyond. It warned that “people working behind the scenes to frustrate good and responsible leadership” are attempting to derail the campaign, but affirmed that legal and liaison teams are already engaging with party structures and INEC to secure full compliance and rectification within the legal window.

Pantami’s team called on supporters to continue mobilisation and to stay focused on their “collective ideology of service to humanity.” The statement reiterated that the PDP and Pantamiyya Movement remain “strong, united and committed to the rescue and emancipation of our people,” and that no distraction will derail their course.

The statement concluded with a blessing: “May Allah bless Gombe State and may Allah bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
