Former Premier League stars David Luiz and Fabinho are among a growing number of ex‑top‑flight players who have turned their attention to the UEFA Conference League, according to a report by Punch Nigeria.
The Conference League, which began in 2021, sits below the Champions League and Europa League as the third tier of European club competition. It offers clubs from smaller associations a chance to play continental football and gain valuable experience on a larger stage.
While the article does not list the specific clubs that Luiz, Fabinho and their peers represent, it notes that they are continuing their professional careers in the competition with various European teams.
For many players who have spent time in the Premier League, the Conference League provides a platform to maintain high‑level match fitness and showcase their talents to a wider audience, potentially paving the way for future moves.
As the competition gains traction, the presence of high‑profile names such as Luiz and Fabinho underscores its growing appeal to seasoned professionals looking for new challenges outside the traditional powerhouses of European football.
