Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police on Saturday arrested Mrs. Rukayat Muhammed in Abuja after the death of her alleged lover at the Good Samaritan Guest House in Gwarimpa. The 26‑year‑old, who is married, was taken into custody by the FCT Police Command following an investigation that linked her to the disappearance and subsequent discovery of a dead body on the Kubwa Expressway.
According to FCT Commissioner of Police Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, the suspect and the deceased had been staying together at the guest house on 2nd Avenue, Gwarimpa. “She discovered that the deceased was no longer breathing and had died,” Sanusi said. “Rather than immediately reporting the incident to the police, she took the deceased’s mobile phone and left the hotel.”
The body was found on August 26, 2026, under a bridge on the Kubwa Expressway by a person named Katampe. It had been hidden by two hotel staff members, Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, who allegedly removed it from the room and dumped it by the roadside to distance the hotel from the incident.
“The police investigation has now unraveled a significant part of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body, but the investigation is still ongoing,” Sanusi said. “Anyone found to have played a role in the death or subsequent concealment and abandonment of the body will be made to face the law.”
Investigators traced the missing mobile phone of the deceased, which had been switched off but had last communicated with Rukayat Muhammed, whose contact was saved under the name “Safiyat.” The police confirmed that the deceased had been reported missing by his family before his body was located.
Commissioner Sanusi warned the public against concealing information or obstructing investigations. He said the case demonstrates the command’s determination to go beyond the surface of incidents and to pursue all available leads to bring those culpable to justice.
