On Saturday, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command announced the arrest of Mrs Rukayat Muhammed in connection with the death of a man whose body was later discovered on the Kubwa Expressway near Katampe under the bridge.
According to FCT Commissioner of Police Mohammed Sanusi, the deceased and the suspect had stayed together at the Good Samaritan Guest House on 2nd Avenue, Gwarimpa, before the man died. The body was found on 26 August 2026, and the incident was initially treated as a possible “one chance” case after the victim’s family reported him missing.
Investigators traced the victim’s missing mobile phone, which was switched off, and used the last contact to identify Rukayat, a resident of Garki Area 2. Sanusi said the suspect, a married woman, had saved the victim’s contact under the name “Safiyat” and claimed she discovered he was no longer breathing but left the hotel with his phone instead of calling the police.
Hotel management, represented by Ibrahim Omeiza and Kefat Bitrus, allegedly removed the body from the room after failing to contact the occupants and transported it to the Kubwa Expressway, where it was dumped by the roadside. The CP said the action was intended to distance the hotel from the incident.
“Anyone found to have played a role in the death or subsequent concealment and abandonment of the body will be made to face the law,” the CP said.
The police are continuing their investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the man’s death and the alleged body disposal.
