Joe Espada will not be returning as manager of the Houston Astros for the 2027 season, the club announced today. Espada, who took the helm in 2024, guided the team to two American League West titles during his three-year tenure.
Under Espada’s leadership, the Astros captured the AL West crown in 2024 and again in 2025, cementing their position as a dominant force in the division. His coaching style and strategic decisions earned him praise from players and analysts alike.
In a statement released by the Astros, the organization confirmed that Espada’s contract will not be renewed and that the club will begin a search for a new manager ahead of the 2027 season.
Espada’s departure marks the end of a successful chapter for the franchise, which has consistently sought to build on its recent playoff appearances. The Astros will look to maintain their competitive edge as they transition to new leadership.
