Former Arsenal forward Theo Walcott praised young winger Noni Madueke after the Gunners secured a 1‑0 Premier League win over Hull City on Saturday.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, Walcott said the squad “trusts him, and they are giving him the ball more often because he does things that other players won’t be able to do.” He added that Madueke’s willingness to take on tasks that others shy away from has earned him the confidence of his teammates.
Walcott also acknowledged the typical ups and downs of a winger, describing Madueke as “frustrating” at times and noting the “inconsistency with wingers.” He contrasted the youngster’s style with that of fellow Arsenal star Bukayo Saka, calling Madueke “a different player to Bukayo Saka as well.”
“I have been really impressed with him because he’s had to be patient,” Walcott said.
Arsenal, currently competing in the English Premier League, have been integrating several academy graduates into the first‑team set‑up, and Madueke’s performances are seen as part of that broader youth‑development strategy.
