In a decisive 6‑1 win at the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich demolished RB Leipzig, with Luis Diaz scoring a hat‑trick and Harry Kane adding a goal and two assists in his 100th Bundesliga appearance. The result lifted Bayern to the top of the table and gave the German giants a confidence boost ahead of their Champions League clash with Arsenal on Wednesday.
Bayern’s dominance was on full display from the start. After a quick goal from Diaz, the hosts went on to score five more before the half‑time whistle. Kane’s tap‑in, followed by two further strikes from Diaz, gave the hosts a 5‑0 lead before a late consolation from Leipzig’s Andrija Maksimovic. Aleksandar Pavlovic and Michael Olise also added to the tally.
“A big game against one of the best in Europe, you have to enjoy these occasions,” Kane told reporters. “We’re testing ourselves against one of the best.”
“Lucho has had some criticism this season but he was excellent tonight. Definitely the man of the hour,” Bayern captain Joshua Kimmich said.
With the match played from the sidelines by coach Vincent Kompany, who was nursing a hip complaint, the win also marked Bayern’s best performance of the season. It is the third consecutive victory over Leipzig, with a combined scoreline of 17‑1, and follows two earlier draws that had left the German giants in a rare period of middling form.
