Dangote Industries Limited is set to significantly expand its human capital at the Dangote Refinery, with the workforce expected to nearly double as part of a broader operational push. The announcement was made by Edwin Devakumar, the company’s vice president for oil, gas, and fertiliser, during a media engagement at the facility in Lagos on Friday.
Speaking to journalists, Devakumar outlined the scale of the upcoming staffing increase, noting that the expansion will affect the majority of the refinery’s operational sections. He stated, “Well, within the refinery, the workforce will practically become double, except in the water treatment section, because there we already have substantial capacity.”
The exclusion of the water treatment division from the doubling plan highlights the existing robustness of that specific infrastructure. According to Devakumar, the current capacity in that area is already sufficient to meet operational demands, necessitating no immediate surge in headcount compared to other parts of the refinery.
This strategic move underscores the refinery’s commitment to scaling up its operations in line with its expansion goals. By increasing the workforce across most departments, Dangote Industries aims to ensure that the facility can handle increased throughput and maintain high standards of production efficiency.
