Nigerian pop star D’banj, born Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, posted a heartfelt tribute to his 13‑month‑old son, Daniel Oyebanjo III, on Instagram on the anniversary of the toddler’s death. The singer reflected on the loss and thanked his wife and other children for finding a “safe space” after the tragedy.

In the post, D’banj wrote, “I miss you Daniel D3rd my son and trust me I can’t imagine how your mother feels but we are in a Safe Space now THANK YOU …” He described his son as the family’s “star boy” and said the experience had taught him “what life really is as a whole.”

The entertainer also remembered his late uncle Femi, asking his son to convey a message to him: “Say hi to your Uncle Femi, tell him I miss him too.” He added, “Daddy loves you specially, physically, spiritually and powerfully.” The post was signed, “Your Dad Daniel D2nd Lee, The No 1 Entertainer Ever liveth.”

Daniel died on 24 June 2018 after reportedly drowning in a swimming pool at the family’s residence in Ikoyi, Lagos. The incident left D’banj and his wife, Lineo Didi Kilgrow, devastated, and they have since worked to rebuild their lives.

Fans and well‑wishers have responded to the tribute with sympathy and support, sharing their condolences and memories of the late toddler.
