The Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday ordered actress Doris Ogala to be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre while the court considers her bail application in a case involving alleged cyberstalking, cyberbullying and attempted extortion of Pastor Chris Okafor.

According to the court record, three counts were filed against Ogala by Pastor Okafor. The actress entered a plea of not guilty to each of the charges.

Justice Akintayo Aluko presided over the hearing and, after hearing the parties, directed that Ogala remain in custody pending further proceedings.

The judge’s order means that Ogala will stay at Kirikiri Correctional Centre until the court determines whether she will be granted bail. No further details of the alleged offences were disclosed during the hearing.

Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital, hosts the Federal High Court, while Kirikiri Correctional Centre is one of the country’s largest prisons. Under Nigerian law, cyberstalking, cyberbullying and extortion are criminal offences that can attract custodial sentences.
