Ohio State’s starting quarterback Julian Sayin will miss several weeks after sustaining a shoulder injury, coach Ryan Day said on Saturday following the Buckeyes’ 19‑15 win over No. 5 Indiana.
Day confirmed that Sayin’s injury was to his throwing shoulder, an injury that will sideline him for a significant period. The Buckeyes’ offense had to adjust after the injury, but they still managed to hold the Hoosiers to 15 points.
The game was played at Indiana, where the Buckeyes’ backup quarterback Luke Fahey finished the contest as the team’s primary passer. Despite the loss of their starter, Ohio State’s defense and special teams kept the game close enough for a narrow victory.
Ohio State, a perennial power in the Big Ten, will now rely on its depth at the quarterback position as it prepares for the remainder of the season.
“Julian will miss several weeks with an injury to his throwing shoulder,” Day said.
