Former Barcelona manager Quique Setién has publicly declared that Barcelona captain Raphinha should be awarded the Ballon d’Or for 2026, despite the Brazilian winger not being listed among the 30‑man nominees for the prestigious award.
Speaking to Spain’s SER Deportivos Gran Canaria, Setién said, “No need to think about it. I would give the Ballon d’Or to Raphinha right now. I am very clear on this because he is the best player. He is an absolutely complete player.”
Raphinha has been a standout performer for the Catalan club this season, netting 12 goals in all competitions. His form has earned him praise from former coaches and pundits alike, yet he remains omitted from the official shortlist.
Setién also dismissed other high‑profile candidates, notably Lamine Yamal and Rodri, from consideration for the award, underscoring his conviction that Raphinha’s all‑round contributions set him apart.
