A federal judge has ordered the White House to restore full access for three news organisations that President Donald Trump banned last month for their coverage of his administration. The ruling applies to CNN, MS NOW and Politico while their legal challenge continues.
The judge’s decision requires the White House to grant the outlets the same access that it provides to other media houses, allowing reporters to cover the executive branch without restriction.
Trump had barred the three outlets from the White House after they published stories critical of his policies. The ban was lifted only after the court intervened, underscoring the ongoing tension between the administration and the press.
Attorney Ted Boutrous, who represents CNN, MS NOW and Politico, spoke with Geoff Bennett about the judge’s order and the next steps in the litigation. Boutrous said the ruling is a significant win for press freedom, but the case is still pending.
The legal challenge remains active, and the court will continue to monitor compliance with the order as the outlets seek to resume normal coverage of the White House.
