Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), arrived in Sokoto State to launch the party’s campaign flag‑off for the upcoming national election.
The flag‑off ceremony in Sokoto marks the official start of the ADC’s nationwide outreach, as the party seeks to mobilise supporters across Nigeria’s northern region ahead of the presidential poll.
The ADC, a smaller political party in Nigeria’s multi‑party system, has positioned Atiku – a former vice‑president and long‑time figure in national politics – as its standard‑bearer in the race.
State officials and party representatives greeted Atiku on arrival, signalling local endorsement for the campaign’s rollout in the region.
Following the flag‑off, the ADC plans a series of rallies and town‑hall meetings across the country as it strives to broaden its appeal ahead of the election.
