The vehicle of Innocent Umar Jabayang, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency, was attacked in Yorro Local Government Area of Taraba State over the weekend.

According to reports, the car – registered GBB‑339AA – suffered damage to its windscreens, body and campaign materials. The incident has sparked concern across the constituency.

APGA governorship candidate Danji Usman Shiddi condemned the attack, describing it as an assault on democratic values and political tolerance. He urged security agencies to investigate and bring those responsible to book.

Shiddi called on the state Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant stakeholders to look into the incident and prevent further escalation. He stressed that elections should be decided through ideas and persuasion rather than intimidation and violence.

Jabayang also appealed to Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, demanding urgent enforcement of the state’s anti‑thuggery law. He warned supporters to remain calm and avoid actions that could ignite a crisis in the state.

Despite the attack, APGA reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful campaigning, stating that the incident would not deter its mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
