AMD announced on Tuesday that its third‑quarter revenue reached a record $13.4 billion, a 45 percent jump from the same period a year earlier. The surge was driven almost entirely by the company’s data‑center business, which almost doubled in size, while its gaming segment saw a sharp decline.

Chief financial officer Jean Hu said the company expects full‑year revenue to be around $17 billion, give or take 3 percent. “The middle point of our guidance represents approximately 66 percent year‑over‑year revenue growth, primarily driven by the acceleration of our Data Center segment,” Hu told analysts.

AMD’s data‑center revenue rose 97 percent year over year to a record $8.5 billion. The growth was attributed to strong demand for the EPYC line of enterprise server CPUs and the launch of the Instinct MI450 series GPUs. In the client segment, which includes desktop Ryzen processors, revenue was $2.95 billion, up 7 percent from a year earlier.

Looking ahead, AMD projects its fourth‑quarter revenue to climb another 27 percent from the current quarter’s results. By comparison, Intel’s fourth‑quarter guidance estimates revenue between $15 billion and $16 billion. If both companies meet those targets, AMD would surpass Intel’s revenue for the first time in history.
