Alaska Senate candidate Dan S. Sullivan has denied any knowledge of an alleged plot to place two candidates named Dan Sullivan on the state’s ballot, as accusations of voter confusion emerge ahead of the upcoming election.
The incumbent Republican senator, Dan S. Sullivan, who is running for re‑election, and his allies have accused Democratic operatives of attempting to confuse voters by recruiting a second candidate, Dan J. Sullivan, to also stand in the race.
The claim centres on the idea that having two similarly named candidates on the ballot could mislead voters and affect the outcome of the contest.
Sullivan said he had no involvement in, nor was he aware of, any effort to enlist another Dan Sullivan as a candidate, rejecting the allegation as unfounded.
The dispute comes as the Alaska Senate race intensifies, with both parties preparing for the November election that will decide the state’s representation in the U.S. Senate.
