Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called a meeting of the state’s security chiefs to address a recent surge in killings carried out by rival cult groups.
The meeting comes after a series of violent clashes between competing cult organisations that have left several residents dead and heightened fears of further unrest.
Governor Adeleke said the gathering would focus on coordinating a stronger security response, reviewing existing protocols and identifying gaps that have allowed the violence to spread.
He urged the chiefs to act swiftly to protect civilians and restore calm in communities that have been shaken by the killings.
Security officials will also discuss ways to engage local leaders and community members in efforts to curb the influence of cult groups and prevent future incidents.
