Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has initiated the construction of a new entrance gate, a modern Quarter Guard Post, an access road, and a solar illumination project at the corps' headquarters in Abuja. The groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant step toward enhancing the security infrastructure of the agency's central command facility.
The infrastructure upgrade is designed to strengthen overall security, improve access control, and provide a more conducive operational environment for NSCDC personnel. These improvements aim to support staff in the effective discharge of their statutory responsibilities within the headquarters complex.
Babawale Afolabi, the Assistant Commandant of Corps and National Public Relations Officer for the NSCDC, stated that the project is expected to be completed within eight weeks. The timeline suggests a rapid deployment of resources to finalize the structural and technological upgrades to the site.
In a statement, Afolabi noted that the Commandant General expressed appreciation for the intervention and continued support provided by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who also serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The CG also acknowledged the support of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, towards the infrastructural development and operational capacity of the corps.
The expansion of the headquarters' physical infrastructure reflects a broader effort to modernize the NSCDC's facilities. By integrating solar illumination and upgraded guard posts, the agency seeks to ensure round-the-clock security and operational readiness at its primary administrative hub.
