Dr. Oluwatoyin Emmanuel Taiwo, the former Chief of Staff to Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced that he will use his government experience and network to represent Yewa South/Ipokia in the House of Representatives in 2027.
In addition to his role as Chief of Staff, Taiwo served as Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Ogun State Government. He said that his experience across different levels of public administration has equipped him with the knowledge, contacts and institutional understanding needed to represent the constituency effectively at the National Assembly.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Ipokia on Saturday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate stressed that “effective representation requires more than occupying a seat.” He said his practical understanding of government processes, policy formulation and implementation would help him identify opportunities for the constituency and pursue them through the appropriate federal institutions.
“I will not be a representative that the people will only see during elections. I will remain accessible and maintain a strong connection with the constituency while also being fully engaged with the business of the National Assembly,” Taiwo said.
He pledged to use his network and goodwill to attract federal projects, programmes and interventions to Yewa South and Ipokia, particularly in the following areas:
- Education
- Agriculture
- Healthcare
- Infrastructure
- Youth development
- Skills acquisition
- Employment
“Any project attracted to our constituency must be properly monitored. It is not enough to have projects on paper; we must ensure that they are implemented properly and that the people receive the value for which those projects were provided,” Taiwo added.
He highlighted his close working relationship with Governor Abiodun and his private‑sector experience as giving him insight into government workings and the ability to navigate institutional processes. He also promised regular consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women’s groups, professionals, farmers and business owners across the constituency.
Taiwo concluded that effective legislative representation should be measured by the ability to identify the people’s needs, secure appropriate interventions, monitor implementation and remain accountable. He urged voters to entrust him with the mandate in 2027, assuring them that his experience would bring a more visible, responsive and development‑focused presence to Yewa South/Ipokia.
