Abia State Governor Alex Otti has announced plans to inaugurate ten new courthouses and commence the construction of ultra-modern court complexes in the state’s major cities of Aba and Umuahia.
The announcement was made on Tuesday during a thanksgiving service held at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The event marked the official commencement of the 2026/2027 legal year for the Abia State Judiciary.
By expanding the judicial infrastructure, the state government aims to enhance access to justice for residents across the region. The initiative includes both the immediate commissioning of existing facilities and the development of new, state-of-the-art complexes designed to modernize the local court system.
The expansion of court facilities is a significant step for Abia State, reflecting a broader commitment to strengthening the rule of law and improving the efficiency of the judicial process within the state.
