Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA) in Akungba‑Akoko, Ondo State, has issued a ban on all signing‑out ceremonies and related celebrations on campus, citing security concerns.
The directive, issued in a circular by Registrar Dr Grace Olubunmi Babalola on 30 October 2026, states that the Vice‑Chancellor, acting on behalf of the Senate, approved the ban to protect lives and property within the university community.
Under the ban, no signing‑out party, gathering, procession or other celebratory activity associated with the completion of academic programmes may be organised or held anywhere on campus until further notice. The measure takes immediate effect, with final‑year students urged to comply strictly.
Deans, heads of departments, heads of units, security personnel and other relevant officials have been instructed to enforce the ban and report any violations to the appropriate authorities. Students or staff who flout the directive will face disciplinary action under the university’s existing laws and regulations, and suspected criminal conduct will be referred to law‑enforcement agencies.
Registrar Babalola urged the university community to cooperate in maintaining a safe, peaceful and orderly campus environment, adding that the suspension will remain in force until further notice.
