Edo State Governor and senator, Monday Okpebholo, appealed to residents of Orhionwon Local Government Area to back President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re‑election in 2027, declaring that a vote for the president is also a vote for his own administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC). The statement was made at an APC campaign rally in Abudu, the headquarters of Orhionwon LGA.

A vote for President Tinubu is a vote for Okpebholo. It is a vote for APC and a vote for the progress of this country.

Okpebholo praised the removal of the fuel subsidy, calling it “the redemption of this country” because it freed Nigeria’s resources from a few individuals and enabled the government to meet salary obligations and pursue development projects.

He also highlighted his administration’s recent approval of electrification for Orhionwon South, a community that had been without power for more than 25 years. Residents celebrated the move, describing it as a major milestone that will end decades of darkness, boost the local economy and improve quality of life.

Other prominent APC leaders addressed the gathering, including Deputy Governor Hon. Dennis Idahosa, Senator Matthew Uroghide (Director‑General of the Edo State APC Presidential Campaign Council), former deputy governors Dr. Pius Odubu and Dr. Lucky Imasuen, and Pastor Osagie Ize‑Iyamu. The speakers urged continued party unity and collective commitment to the APC’s electoral success.

The rally also witnessed the induction of new members into the party, with APC Deputy State Chairman Sylvester Aigbobor formally receiving the decampees.
